ALL the children in Key Stage 2 at Hayward’s School in Credion took part in a Holocaust Memorial Day event on Monday, January 27.
The children visited the school’s community space to take part in a series of reflective activities focusing on key themes such as community cohesion and healing.
All of the activities were multi-sensory including writing on jigsaw pieces, placing pebbles into water and placing stones as a memorial act.
All of the activities were also dual-language, presented in both English and Polish.
The children in Year Six had also created an art installation based on a quote by Aushwitz victim Zalman Gradowski: “It may be that this, these very lines I am writing, will be the only witnesses to what was my life. But I will be happy if my writings reach you, free citizen of the world. Perhaps a spark of my inner fire will ignite in you, and you will fulfil at least a part of our life’s desire: you shall avenge, avenge our deaths!”
