THE people of Crediton are being given another chance!

They are being invited to have their say on some important planning decisions - which are likely to have a significant effect on the future of the town and area.

This includes Devon County Council's proposal to abandon the protected route of the Crediton bypass and implications for the Pedlarspool contingency development site; the revised road line for the link road from the A377 to Lords Meadow and the implications for the Wellparks development site; the plan for development at Chapel Downs, Crediton.

Crediton Mayor, Cllr Frank Letch, said in a statement issued following its meeting of the council on Tuesday: "Crediton Town Council draws attention to the residents of Crediton and all interested parties of their chance to have a final say about the deletion of the protected bypass route.

"Devon County Council proposed to abandon the protected bypass route in March this year.

"Now independent inspectors of the local plan are looking at the impact of this decision on Crediton.

"The inspectors have asked Mid Devon District Council to re-advertise some parts of this plan so that the public can comment."

"This is your chance to put forward your views."

Cllr Letch added: "Crediton Town Council strongly opposes the abandoning of the protected bypass route and will respond accordingly.

"Help your council by supporting its stand on this important issue.

"The closing date for comments is July 2."

Cllr Letch added that Mid Devon District Council will be required to place advertisements in the local press urging people to make their comments known.

LINK PLAN

The proposed further consultation on the Local Development Plan could be seen as a "life-line" to Crediton Traffic Action Group, who favour a valley link road.
