After year's of struggling, the school is now doing very well and the evidence was seen by Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted) inspectors who visited it last month.
In four areas of inspection, Ofsted rated Hayward's School "Outstanding" for Behaviour and Safety, "Good" for Achievement, "Good" for Teaching and Learning and "Good" for Leadership meaning the school's overall rating was "Good".
Ofsted recently "raised the bar" with regard to its gradings and under the new inspection framework it is much harder for schools to achieve "Good" or "Outstanding" grades.
Head Teacher Steve Hitchcock, said: "We are delighted that the inspectors recognised the excellent progress over the last few years and they have stated that we are well on course to reach the top grade at the next inspection."
