FORMER Guider, Margaret Martin, recently held a fabulous retirement party at Cheriton Fitzpaine for all her Brownies, Rainbows and Leaders, which was a fantastic success and included entertainment by magician Colin John, which was enjoyed by both adults and children.
Margaret started as an assistant Guider at Cheriton Fitzpaine more than 30 years ago, then took over the Guide Unit for around eight years. She took her Campers Licence and became a District Commissioner and also ran the Sandford Brownie Pack for a number of years.
Margaret was presented with gifts, which included two beautiful garden peacocks, from the Cheriton Brownies and Rainbows, and was presented with a 30-Year Certificate from Caroline Isaacs, Guide Leader from Crediton.
Margaret thanked everyone who went along to help them celebrate their retirement and for the lovely gifts they had given to them. She added that it had been a privilege and honour to have had such an input into so many girls lives, be it camping, pack holidays or just a couple of hours a week for the meetings.
The afternoon concluded with a delicious buffet tea.
