GREGORY Distribution Ltd (GDL) and its subsidiary Kay Transport Ltd have been recognised as West of England Business of the Year 2010, a contest for companies with a turnover of more than £25m.

The annual awards were organised by Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP (PwC), in conjunction with ITV, Beacon Southwest and the Western Daily press. The award was presented at a gala dinner held at the Marriott City Centre Hotel, Bristol.

GDL beat off challenges from major regional business including Avon Rubber Plc, Fine Tubes Ltd, Gooch and Housego Plc and Smiths News Plc, providing evidence of the company's financial performance, service innovation, business management, training, future prospects and contribution to the region.

GDL employs over 1,000 people within the West Country and operates over 450 vehicles. The company has a number of major distribution centres in the South West, with further transport bases throughout England and Scotland.

The third generation family-owned and managed transport and logistics business which has centres at Crediton and North Tawton offers customised warehousing and distribution services across many industry sectors and numbers many regional and national companies amongst its customers including Milk Link, South West Water, Appleby Westward (Spar), British Ceramic Tiles, Cadbury, Coca Cola, Dairy Crest and Mars.
