PUPILS at Brampford Speke Church of England Primary School have recently started up a Green Club.
Two years ago the school was fortunate to have been loaned a plot of land adjoining the school and it has worked hard to turn the land into an area of great interest to all the pupils.
The "Green Room" now has a fantastic fire circle and seating made with green oak from Chunky Monkey furniture and reclamation and a number of retired tractor tyres donated by a local farmer for use as growing beds.
Pupils have been busy planting a variety of crops under the guidance of parent, Steve Hunter, who is also a professional gardener.
They have developed two "bug houses" to add to the site and have started composting scheme using leaf mulch.
The "Green Team" now have t-shirts, which have been kindly sponsored by a member of the public.
Headteacher, Nic George said that he was very proud of what the group had achieved in a very short space of time and all the pupils were looking forward to cooking the fruits of their labour on the open fire situated within the space.
