A WELL stocked cake stall sold out quickly on Crediton High Street to support the local CHAT - Churches Housing Action Team.
Ruth Morley, CHAT financial development officer for Mid Devon, based in Tiverton, and Bob Wright, a Trustee who lives in Crediton, manned the stall.
They emphasised that a drop-in surgery is held at Crediton every Tuesday (2-4.30pm) for people of any age offering free, impartial advice.
CHAT can help with defending against evictions, making homeless applications and appealing against decisions.
A youth project is run in Tiverton, including a mother and baby house. CHAT is dependent on funding from churches, individuals, and grant making trusts for some of its services.
CHAT's belief is that everyone is entitled to decent, secure and permanent housing - somewhere to call home.
One of the people helped by CHAT was "D" who now feels much more positive about her future and comments: "I feel I can manage on my own now. CHAT has helped me achieve everything I have needed.
"Thank you for your - I could not have done it without your support."
