GRANDPARENTS and parents recently joined their children in the garden at Landscore Primary School in Crediton.
The school hosted two sessions as part of the Soil Association’s Food for Life Grandparent’s Gardening Week (April 1–5).
The aim of the week is for schools to benefit from the support of their local community to kick start their gardens after winter.
Grandparents and parents helped construct herb planters and raised beds, they cleared weeds and planted potatoes. They also dug over some of the other beds ready for the children to plant as the weather warms up.
The children all planted herbs, which were kindly donated by Pukka Herbs. Grandparents and parents also shared handy tips and gardening advice with the children. A good time was had by all despite having to shelter in the school greenhouse to dodge the hail showers.
