HOSPISCARE’S annual Coffee Morning event is about to get under-way.
Throughout the area, people are signing up to raise funds for the local charity by holding coffee mornings in their homes, community halls and even their local parks. Businesses, too, are getting ready to brew up for Hospiscare.
Popular local celebrity Judy Spiers and her faithful companion Gus Honeybun, will once again be joining in the fun and popping in to visit coffee mornings during the event, which runs throughout September.
Last September, Hospiscare supporters held more than 100 coffee mornings, together raising more than £22,000 and the charity is hoping to beat that target this year.
Event organiser, Lianne Harding, said: “We want people to enjoy themselves while they raise funds for us. You don’t have to ‘go to town’ with baking – we’re not all Devon’s answer to Mary Berry – and there are many ways to make your coffee morning a success.
“For example, you could ask your friends to bake some cakes and bring them, or even buy them – there’s no shame in that! You could also have a bric-a-brac stall, hold a raffle with a small prize, or play ‘Guess the Number of Beans in the Jar’ – these are great ways to boost your fundraising total.
“There are many more excellent ideas in our Coffee Morning pack, so call us on 01392 688020 or visit: www.putthekettleon.org.uk and get planning.
“All the money raised will go towards the support and care of local patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.”
