WINNER of the local round to design a peace poster for the world was 11-years-old Georgia Davies of Copplestone Primary School.

Her poster will now go on to represent the area in the South West heats where a national winner will be chosen to go on to the international rounds.

The competition had been organised locally by Crediton and District Lions Club, open to all primary schools in the area.

Runner-up in this annual competition was Alexis Philp, also from Copplestone. Both girls won big boxes of drawing and colouring pencils.

Each child taking part received a certificate. These, and the prizes, were presented by Crediton Lions Club President, Peter Bryan with Lion Eric Parkes, Peace Poster co-ordinator.

Every winning poster in the South West is exhibited at places such as Wells Cathedral or Exeter Cathedral. Last year’s winner, from Landscore School, Crediton, was on show in Wells Cathedral.

Each year there us a different theme for the poster. This year it was “Journey For Peace”.
