A SHORT service to Dedicate the Garden of Remembrance in Crediton Parish Churchyard took place on Saturday, October 27.
AS the clock struck 11am, prayers were being said for the victims of war during the Dedication of the Garden of Remembrance.Prayers were led by the Rev David Francis, a member of the Retired Clergy at Crediton and Rural Dean of Cadbury. He is former Rector of Stow-on-the-Wold.After the short service the Crediton branch President John Shaw and Mike May, Standard Bearer and Poppy Appeal organiser for Crediton, planted a wooden poppy cross at the foot of the gravestones of those who lost their lives in World War One.The Service of Remembrance in the Parish Church on Sunday, November 11, will be at 9.30am and include the Presentation of Standards. Wreath laying at the War Memorial will follow.The garden is open for people to plant their own poppy crosses to remember those who died in conflict anywhere in the world.
