QUICKES Traditional Ltd of Newton St Cyres will be celebrating National Apple Day by hosting a seasonal food fair on Sunday, October 27.

The Quickes Cheese Shop will welcome visitors to enjoy a selection of Quickes award-winning cheese, artisan foods and of course, a variety of local apples!

Among those showcasing their quality products will be Water House Fayre and Kennford Farm Shop. There will be a hog roast and to help wash it all down, spiced mulled cider and local ales.

Children will be able to celebrate Apple Day with fun activities and games throughout the day.

National Apple Day is an annual event which has been held in October for more than 20 years - promoting the variety of apples grown in orchards across the UK.

Celebratory events can vary from apple games in the garden to a weekend event full of cookery demonstrations, apple pressing and tastings.

Apple Day was initiated by the charity, "Common Ground", to commemorate the diversity of locally grown food.

Lucy Quicke, from Quickes Traditional, said: "We are looking forward to holding our Apple Day Food Fair on Sunday, October 27.

"The fair will be an Autumn celebration of apples, delicious local artisan foods and not forgetting - Quickes cheese!

"We hope that many visitors will join us and enjoy the variety of activities that will be taking place throughout the day."

Entry is free and the day will run from 11am to 4pm.
