DESPITE a little rain, Copplestone Fun Day, which was opened by Sir Neil Butterfield from Sandford, was a great success.
There were many stalls and exhibitions, including a a display of vintage tractors, by Michael Coleman of the Mid Devon Tractor, Engine and Machinery Group. There were vintage cars, including an old Morris Minor in immaculate condition from Crediton.
Dave Powlesland was there to give demonstrations of Taekwon-Do, Copplestone Garden Club had a stall full of plants and flowers, and for the children, Kat Howard from Creation Station Arts and Crafts, was doing face painting and craft work.
There was a coconut shy and splat the rat. Twins Ethan and Keiran had their stall selling novelty gifts and their unique soaps. A display by the Tiverton New Generation Majorettes drew great applause.
Donald Kingdon, from Copplestone, ran a Lucky Squares competition which raised £109 for funds.
There was a refreshment tent which kept busy throughout the afternoon, plus there were both burger and ice cream vans.
David Edwards was on duty directing the cars and his wife, Phyllis, with John Lunn, took the entrance money.
All profits raised go towards the proposed new Community Hall and the new committee is working hard planning future fundraising events which include a Wellness Day on Saturday, October 7 at Copplestone Methodist Church from 1pm to 5pm.
Entry is £2 (children free) and tickets are available now by calling 07595 830 526.
There are also plans for a Fashion Show.
A great achievement resulting in a great afternoon of events.
