AS I have now completed almost two months as a Devon County councillor I thought it a good time to give the residents in my division some ideas of what goes on and how I can help.
This will be generic and non-political, aimed at all the villages and Crediton, which are in my division. I will publish an update as regularly as possible.
I intend to hold surgeries as often as possible in all the villages but at the moment with Covid this is proving difficult.
With this in mind I shall be on the town square in Crediton on the first Saturday of the month, in the Duck at Yeoford on the second Saturday; in Copplestone’s Sunnymead play area on the third Saturday and in Bow Aquatics on the fourth Saturday.
The surgery will be from 10am until 12 noon; you do not need to make an appointment.
So far most of the complaints I have received revolve around potholes!
I have done a little research on the Devon County Council website and discovered that if you go to “report a problem” you can then click on potholes.
You’ll discover to your horror that a pothole is only a pothole if it is 30 cms by 40 cms and four cms deep with straight edges!
If you find someone else has reported a pothole you can click on “add me to the pothole”, which will increase the likelihood of something happening.
The other item that has cropped up is speeding.
I am a member of the Speed Watch team in Crediton and I am keen to help those villages that have a problem.
The first step is to get local people interested in forming a speed watch group.
If you can do that let me know and I will set everything in motion. The speed watch team not only catches people speeding but in the past month in Crediton we caught four people who had no MOT certificate, which of course renders their insurance invalid.
I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible in the time I spend in the villages.
