THE Boniface Link Association recently presented "From Crediton to Charlemagne – an evening in the world of St Boniface."
More than 70 people attended the event at the Boniface Centre, Crediton, which raised £185 for the Holy Cross Crediton Campaign Roof Appeal, which has so far raised in excess of £24,000.
Town Mayor Cllr Frank Letch, the chairman of the Boniface Link Association said: "I am passionate about the history of St Boniface and we are very pleased to present the event in support of the Crediton Town Team's initiative to raise awareness of the connection between St Boniface and the Town of Crediton."
The speakers at the event were, Dr Levi Roach, a lecturer in Medieval History at Exeter University, who gave a talk on "Wynfrith's Devon" and Miss Margaret Harris, MPhil in Medieval Studies, who spoke about "The Anglo-Saxons in Europe."
Mrs Judi Binks of the Kennerleigh Heritage Group took a closer look at the life of St Boniface and his relationships with women and authority with "Boniface – Ecce Homo - Behold the Man."
Members from the Dark Age re-enactment group, Hildsvin provided a display of artifacts and wore authentic Anglo-Saxon costume.
Hildsvin, an active member of "The Vikings!" Re-enactment society, aim to provide an educational and entertaining portrayal of the period from 750 AD to 1066 AD, covering Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans.
The group frequently meet at Yeoford on Sunday mornings.

The Boniface Link Association was formed at the request of Crediton Town Council to assist the Council and community in fulfilling the obligation under the Friendship Charters with Dokkum and Fulda.
