MID Devon District Council is giving away free kitchen food waste caddies in a bid to encourage more people to recycle.

All local households already have a kerbside food bin. The smaller caddies are designed to be a convenient middle step for transferring food waste to the outside bin.

Residents can request a kitchen caddy online until September 21. They will be delivered between September 23 and November 13.

Councillor Josh Wright (Lib Dem, Silverton) said: “Lots of residents already recycle their food waste, but we know there are plenty more who could.

“These free kitchen caddies make it really easy to collect food scraps as you go and recycle more from home.”
