THE President of Colebrooke Women’s Institute, Valerie Pennington, welcomed members to our February Meeting which was held at Colebrooke Village Hall.

Our speaker for the evening was Francisca van Holthoon who spoke to us about Second Sight which is a charity which raises funds for blind people in the Bihar region of India to have cataract operations to enable them to see again.

Hospital Outreach Teams go out to remote areas of Bihar to locate the blind people they can help and then transport is arranged to take the patients to the hospital and back home again.

It costs just £20 per patient for the cataract operation and also to transport the patient to and from the hospital. Since the charity was founded in 2000 700,000 people in Bihar can now see. Francisca has been a Trustee of the charity since 2009.

Several members enjoyed Dunsford Pantomime on January 16, which was Aladdin.

For our meeting on March 10 Kat will be speaking about pilates with members able to have a go at some simple pilates exercises.
