MID Devon District Council has agreed to permit free car parking in the St Saviour’s Way (High Street) car park in Crediton on three Saturdays in December (December 9, 16 and 23) and on Saturday, November 25, the day of the Christmas in Crediton Lights Switch-On event.

The free parking will apply from 00.00 hours to 23.50 hours on the dates listed above.

Free parking is also being permitted on December 9, 16 and 23 in the Multi-Storey car park in Tiverton and the Station Road car park in Cullompton as well as on November 25 in the Cullompton car park for the Cullompton Lights Switch-On and in the Tiverton car park for the Lights Switch-On event there on Saturday, December 2.

Mid Devon District Council says it has allowed the free parking on these dates to boost footfall and enhance trade in the market towns in the run up to Christmas and support local Christmas programmes.

A spokesperson said: “This decision directly supports the achievement of the Corporate Plan and Economy and improving and regenerating our town centres.  Free parking for the Saturdays in the run up to Christmas aims to increase footfall, dwell time and spend in our town centres.  This will benefit local traders by supporting businesses in the town centres.”
