THERE are a number of events to note in your diaries which are being organised by Holy Cross Church, Crediton’s Parish Church.

Open Day at Holy Cross - Saturday, August 27, from 10am to 4pm - Go along and explore your church and learn about the various church groups and organisations.

There will be representatives from the Friends, Mothers’ Union and Babes and Toddlers as well as church and churchyard tours.

The Governors’ Room will be open and there will be archive material on display.

There will be organ playing, you can have a go at brass rubbing, find the “green man” and together with a children’s corner, there will be plenty to see and do. Refreshments available throughout. Everyone is warmly invited to the Open Day.

Going for a Sing - Friday, September 2 in the Boniface Centre from 10.30am to 12 noon.

If you like to sing but don’t want to be in a choir, this fun, informal session is for you. There will be songs from film musicals. Followed by refreshments.

Saturday, September 3 - Craft Fair in the Boniface Centre from 10am to 2pm.

The Fair provides an opportunity to support 17 local crafters and to shop early for Christmas.

Items for sale will range from jewellery to walking sticks, hand-bound notebooks, children’s ponchos, cards, pottery, photographs, knitted and sewn items.

There will also be a sealed bid auction for a watercolour picture of the church interior by John Wootten.

During Covid, artist John set himself the task of cycling round as many Devon parishes as he could, taking photographs of their churches from which to produce watercolour paintings.

These have been framed and donated to the respective churches to be used in fundraising.

The church is very grateful to John for the painting. Further details of John’s project can be found at: https://www.theparishpainter.co.uk/ .
