MARC Brooks graduated on September 18 from Plymouth University from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, where he was awarded his Degree as a BSc in Computing and Games Development with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) at his graduation ceremony held on Plymouth Hoe.
Since the age of seven, Marc has been a member of Crediton Parish Church Choir, where he continues to sing when at home and also attends the Crediton and District Swimming Club which train several days a week at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre where he is also a Level One Swimming Instructor.
An avid trombonist, taught by Phil Makin of Makin Music, has enabled Marc to obtain up to Grade Seven.
A former Queen Elizabeth’s School student, Marc was a member of the QE Jazz Band playing many events and venues including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Geneva Switzerland.
Marc proceeded to then join Exeter Children’s Orchestra travelling and performing in Yaroslavl in Russia, also performing at various other concerts and events across Devon.
Leaving QE, Marc continued his education at Exeter College studying a BTEC Diploma in IT, where he passed with a Triple Distinction Star. During his time at Exeter College he took part in many College Societies singing with the Inspirational Choir and playing in their Big Band.
Marc has also been a member of the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra, performing at a variety of festivals and events, even playing twice more at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
During his time at Plymouth University Marc integrated in University life and took part in the variety of societies. Joining both acapella, student choir and The Big Band, which took him to perform at a multitude of venues around Plymouth, Exeter University and a variety of Cathedrals including Exeter and Bath.
Marc is now looking forward to a career in computing involving virtual reality and haptic feedback and is currently working on an electronic awareness system for the visually impaired.
He thanks everyone for their continued support which allowed him to develop the skills needed to achieve his degree.
