WOULD you use an ice skating rink if one was placed, temporarily, as an attraction on Crediton's town square? Should Crediton buy the town square from Mid Devon District Council? Or should the town buy the Mid Devon-owned Market Street council offices?

Alternatively, should a Boniface Trail and myth creation, complete with actors playing the part of Boniface and other characters, be established?

These were just some of the innovative ideas suggested or questions posed at a meeting held to consider innovative ways of rejuvenating the town.

The somewhat poorly-attended meeting, held at the council chamber, considered the formation of a Town Team, a group of people from the town, to regenerate the town and boost trade.

Cllr Frank Letch, Mayor of Crediton, welcomed everyone to the meeting and issued the challenge that the community help to rejuvenate the town.

He suggested innovations to the town centre could include ideas to use empty High Street shops or spectacular events and spoke of recent successful town events, including the Crediton Festival and flag project.

He emphasised that a Town Team would not be a sub-committee of the Town Council but a group with its own identity.
