MAY I start by saying I sincerely hope that everyone who received a survey form from Devon County Council has replied.

This is what I had to say on mine: My comments:

1. Why has Devon County Council, to date (September 23) not responded to Crediton Town Council's request to have the Valley route included in the discussion? To the best of my knowledge two letters have been sent.

2. The so-called Western route is a non-starter because of the disruption to residents of Exeter Road.

3. If the Hillside route is modified to take into consideration suggestions that have been made previously, then this route could be a possibility.

4. The route along the valley must be included if this is to be considered a proper consultation.

I realise that many people think that if the Valley route is included that the link road will never be built, but why I ask myself? Cost?

Does not Devon County think that we in Crediton do not deserve the best possible outcome for the Town?

This town has been promised traffic relief for more than 50 years and we have been fobbed off and, like good little people, the residents have put up with being clogged up with more and more traffic and the air quality getting worse by the day.

I think that it is time for a public inquiry into this whole issue. Modify the Hill route, but we must not have a solution imposed upon us.

We are not only looking at the present situation, but we must consider the implications for future generations.

The Western route is a road to nowhere and will condemn the residents of Exeter Road to a life of more noise and pollution.

The cottages along that road should be preserved for future generations, not be further damaged by traffic on both sides.
