“THE most wonderful time of the year” was the subject of the April demonstration given to members of Crediton Flower Club by Edward Moorman, who used to be a chartered quantity surveyor but decided to make a career change 12 years ago to enter the floristry profession.
He is now the owner of Trugs, a very successful flower shop in Exeter.
To begin, Edward used the beautiful soft colours of mauve roses (memory lane), pink ranunculus, silver thistle, calla lilies and eucalyptus to create a superb hand-held bouquet. Stunning!
Next, he produced a beautiful combination of white blossom, pink ranunculus, lilac, very dainty anthuriums (attractive love) and eucalyptus which formed part of a parallel design with white sticks forming a back drop for the lovely flowers.
A modern arrangement followed where Edward covered an oasis sphere with the vibrant green santini chyrsanths using beautiful phalaenopsis orchids and steel grass to attain height for the display which was placed onto a large martini glass. Really effective!
A simple but very attractive arrangement came next with lime green anthuriums, tulips and viburnum arranged in a bark covered cylindrical vase. Steel grass was used for movement.
For the finale Edward created an Easter door ring which he “dressed” with tête a tête daffodils, baby hyacinths, coloured ball, chicks, eggs and twisted willow. Really clever.
A wonderful evening leaving the audience in no doubt that this really is the most wonderful time of the year.
Mary Nunn gave the vote of thanks.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 11 at the Boniface Centre at 7.15pm and will be a demonstration by Sue Neale entitled “Around the world in two hours”. Sounds intriguing!
Visitors and new members are welcome.
