A DOZEN people went to the first of regular lunches at Holy Trinity Church, Yeoford, to be held on the first Monday of each month.
Because the church has no kitchen as yet, everything was taken there and kept hot in slow cookers. Cutlery, china and condiments belonged to Carol Price, Licensed Lay Minister at Yeoford, and helper Jane Messenger and they shared the washing up at their homes which would have to continue until the kitchen was built.
As much as possible local produce was used. The beef casserole had been made by Yvonne Cant, Dee Hawkins made the quiche. There was apple crumble with cream or custard with tea or coffee to follow. All totally delicious.
Carol explained that the lunch and the weekly Monday coffee mornings, Cafe Company, were to raise funds for the church.
“We do not receive funds from anywhere, we have to fully fund the church ourselves, all the costs you would have in any other building.
“Both events are mainly about outreach to the village and wider community,” Carol added.
Grace was said by the Rev David Francis. Held on the first Monday of each month, the lunches are open to everyone. To book please call 01647 24468. Donations are taken at the church.
