TEACHERS who met on the same teaching course on the first evening of Freshers Week at Plymouth University in 2014 were married at Yeoford Holy Trinity Church on Saturday, August 21.

They were Jay Ford who was born and grew up in Plymouth and Crediton girl, Heather Pinn, who grew up in the town and went to Queen Elizabeth’s School.

Jay teaches Further Education at Exeter College, Heather is a teacher at East Worlington and Lapford Schools.

With her parents, Heather moved to Yeoford in 2015, Jay joining them in 2018.

They will continue to live there for a while until they get their own house.

Heather was driven to the church by her father who walked her down the aisle and then she and Jay walked back through the village with their family and friends to their reception at The Duck, Yeoford. The Rev Jenny Francis conducted the wedding ceremony.

A request for rose petals to dry to be thrown at the church resulted in a big box full. Jay said they had received a lot of kind donations of rose petals and they had been drying herbs to be thrown as well.

As people were leaving the church the single bell was rung enthusiastically and joyously. Several people carried tubs of shrubs and flowers and floral arrangements, that had decorated the church, back to the pub for their marquee.

The last wedding at Holy Trinity at Yeoford was about four years ago when Paul and Jackie Coren were married.
