AN avid “Crediton Courier” reader celebrated her 90th birthday on Wednesday, December 12, with family and friends.

Dorothy Dart was born on December 12, in 1928 in Sandford.

She was the eldest of seven children, and the family moved from Sandford to Shobrooke, then Henstill, before moving back to West Sandford.

She attended Copplestone Primary School and Hayward’s School in Crediton.

Dorothy worked in Lee’s Stores in Crediton, where she met her late husband, Bill Dart, and they married in 1950.

They had two daughters, Shirley and Rosemary.

The family moved to Crediton in 1961.

Shirley and Rosemary both married and had children.

Bill and Dorothy ran APN Stores at Fordton for many years and Dorothy also helped at the Little to Large shop run by her daughter, Rosemary, in Crediton’s Pannier Market and later in the High Street.

In September 2000 Bill and Dorothy celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary but Bill has since sadly passed away.

Dorothy now has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
