FAMILY and friends celebrated the 90th birthday of Norman Allnutt of Coldridge at an open house event held in Crediton.

Coffee, tea and cakes were served and visitors came from far and near to attend.

Norman was born in Kensington, London, attending Hampton Grammar (now Hampton School).

His National Service was served in a drawing office as a draughtsman after which he became a teacher, teaching in Twickenham, Hampton, Wandsworth and then for many years in Jersey, where he took the position of Deputy Head before becoming the Head of School.

He spent 16 years in Jersey and took early retirement, moving to Dartmouth where he became a Lay Pastor at the Baptist Church for six years.

After that he retired to Coldridge, where he has lived for 20 years.

His wife Marjorie sadly passed away six years ago. They had three children, Brian, Mike and Jill and Norman now has four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Members of the community from Coldridge attended the open house event, including members of the Lunch Club, Garden Club and Parish Church.

Others also attended from South Street Baptist Church in Exeter and Allerbridge Chapel at Coldridge.

Mr Allnutt received many gifts and cards to mark the occasion.
