ON Thursday, March 7 children and staff at Hayward’s Primary School in Crediton dressed-up as their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day.

They all took the morning off the usual timetable to take part in ERIC (Everyone reading in class) and families were invited to go along and share reading time.

Beth Metcalf, Jenny Perry and Cathie Holden of Crediton Community Bookshop visited the school to read to the children. Cathie runs the Outreach programme which takes books, and the authors, to schools in the area to read extracts from selected books to celebrate World Book Day.
