RECENT work by Devon County Council has transformed the cycle path and footpath from Sandford to Crediton.

Now back to its original width and with a new surface, the path wends its way across the Millennium Green to the top of the hill in Crediton.

Originally established and still owned by the village of Sandford, the path was adopted by DCC a couple of years ago.

The Trustees of the Green and Path in Sandford are hugely grateful that this well-used path has been given this boost. Last winter, the many days of rain took their toll and there were times when the path could not be used by cyclists and was not usable by anyone unless wearing wellies.

Hopefully, this winter it will be able to resist such bad weather.

Coincidentally, the work on the path across the Green was taking place at the same time as the annual leaf clearance on the path through the wood at the Crediton end.

On the morning of Sunday, November 22, about 20 volunteers turned up, with their rakes and energy, to remove this year’s leaf-fall.

They were rewarded with great camaraderie during the work, and coffee and cake at the bottom of the wood. Well done everyone!

It was good to see people from Crediton joining in with the usual suspects from Sandford.
