IT IS that time of year again to make a date in your diary to go along to the Mid Devon Show, which will again be held at the wonderfully scenic venue of Knightshayes/Chettiscombe, near Tiverton, on Saturday, July 22.

Experience a true celebration of rural Mid Devon with an eclectic mix of breathtaking entertainment, food, shopping, music, horticulture and farm life.

The event runs from 9am to 5.30pm and there promises to be something for everyone.

The show organisers say, as ever, there are a large livestock entry of cattle, sheep, pigs, pygmy goats, cavies and, all being well, poultry, all competing for top prizes.

Farming practice demonstrations are an attraction and this year the demonstrations have a theme, which is Grassland Management.

In the Countryside Area there will be falconry, gun dogs and the Devon Wild Fowlers as well as an Exmoor Pony display, a fly casting demonstration and the ever-popular ferret racing and owls display.

Headlining in the main ring will be MotoStunts International Stunt team who are supported by the Pony Club games, private driving, the Young Farmers’ competition and then later in the day the vintage tractor parade, the heavy horses, the parade of hounds and then mid-afternoon the grand parade of livestock.

In the Music and Dance pavilion entertainment will be provided by “Barracuda” and “Sun Dogs”, as well as the soprano, Clare Lash Williams, the “Wyndham Male Voice Choir” and the Exeter Morris Men.

There will also be a fairground, bouncy castle, Kyrton Archers offering visitors the chance to have-a-go at archery and many more attractions.

There will also be the P D Hook Food Hall, the new Magpie Marquee, which amongst other things will be displaying part of the much-praised Poppy Display which was such a success at the Devon County Show.

There will be a wide variety of craft stands and hundreds of trade stands displaying wares from tractors and other agricultural machinery to fudge.

It will be the perfect family day out, and parking is free-of-charge.

Visitors will be spoilt for choice with eight hours of non-stop entertainment and an adventure into local history, produce and the finest offerings available right here in Mid Devon.

Dogs are welcome but must be on a fixed lead, not extending leads.
