FOR the last six years we have lived on Exeter Road, even though we have had to put up with heavy traffic day and night, constantly passing our windows. Lorries mounting the pavement, causing loss of light in our rooms.

We have to put up with racing cars, people leaving rubbish on the wall while waiting for a bus, even dismantling the wall and throwing the stones across the road.

Dirty, dusty windows, water flowing down Exeter Road when there is a heavy downpour, poor air quality, Tesco's, a pub - should I go on?!

I can hear someone say "Why stay there?" We love our house, our home. We have a lovely garden which, in the summer months we enjoy, especially as the outlook to the rear makes up for the front view. We look onto an orchard.

The birds (there are plenty) including buzzards, and woodpeckers, there are rabbits, even deer have come into the orchard! Oh, not forgetting the local cats, they enjoy the orchard for hunting out the field mice. Then there are the badgers. What will happen to all of this?

So, as the years have passed, the thought of traffic being diverted away from Exeter Road was one of hope! Oh, well, one can dream!

Instead, we are going to be sandwiched between two roads with more noise and more pollution. When were we consulted and informed about the change of route? Let me think, Never!

The town councillors walk Exeter Road when there are elections coming up. Did they walk Exeter Road to inform us of the change of plan? - no. Do they care about the effect that this road will have on our properties/families? What if we wanted to sell? Who would want to buy a house sandwiched between two roads?!

So, thank you councillors and others - for nothing. We have been let down again! To those of you that are giving your full support to Exeter Road via the Courier etc, many, many thanks.

Please don't let this new route happen!
