SOON to celebrate her 10th birthday and go up to Guides, Evie Saunders is the first Crediton Brownie to achieve a gold award, a very prestigious award and one that represents a lot of hard work over some time.
Evie received her award at the Crediton Guide Headquarters at Lords Meadow, from Crediton Guide District Commissioner Judith Harris. Evie is a member of the 3rd Crediton Brownies.
Daughter of Simon and Sarah Saunders, she goes to Landscore School, had to achieve at least one badge from six categories plus six skill builders in a further six categories, skills for the future, for life such as communicate, innovate and running a Brownie meeting herself.
Her Brownie Leader, Jill Taylor, said this was such a commitment plus school work. Evie also does ballet in Crediton and plays in Sandford Cricket Club’s Under-10 team.
Judith said this was an example of how Guiding in Crediton was coming out the other side of Covid, had adapted their meetings and are now face-to-face and loving it.
There are two Brownie units in Crediton, a second Rainbows in September as well as one Guide unit.
Altogether there are more than 150 girls involved in Guiding in Crediton District which includes Morchard Bishop and Cheriton Fitzpaine.
