THROUGHOUT 2017 many events were held to raise funds for the Holy Cross Crediton Campaign Roof Appeal which included various talks, two quiz nights and a Heritage open day.
The Appeal is Crediton Parish Church’s largest restoration project since the 1880’s and has, to-date, raised more than £90,000.
TREKKING TALK
The first fundraiser this year will be a talk by Andrew Hills entitled “Trekking in the Higher Ranges: The Andes and Himalaya”.
This will take place on Monday, February 19 at 7.30pm. Admission will be £6, to include light refreshments.
AFRICAN WILDLIFE
Starting at 7.30pm on Monday, March 19, Mammal Ecologist Paul Chanin MA, PhD, will give a talk on “From antelopes to zebras: close encounters with African wildlife”, with admission again £6 to include light refreshments.
QUIZ AND SUPPER
The first of two Quiz and Supper evenings will take place on Saturday, April 7 at 7pm. Teams of four are invited and cost is £8 per adult/£4 for under 16’s. To book teams please telephone 01363 773669.
CYRUS TALK
An illustrated talk by professor Lynette Mitchell entitled “Cyrus and near Eastern Gardens - sixth BC King of Persia” will be held on Monday, May 14 at 7.30pm. Admission £6.
HERITAGE OPEN DAY
This year’s Heritage Open Day at Crediton Parish Church will be held on Sunday, August 12 from 1pm to 4.30pm.
There will be a chance to see the bells, clock and historic Governors’ room along with audio/visual presentations. Admission is free and light refreshments will be available. Donations will be welcomed.
QUIZ AND SUPPER
The second Quiz and Supper evening takes place on Saturday, September 1 at 7pm. Admission for adults will be £8 with Under 16’s £4.

DARTMOOR PRISON
“The History of Dartmoor Prison” will be the title of a talk to be given by Simon Dell on Monday, October 15 at 7.30pm. Admission £6, includes light refreshments.
EXETER BUSINESS TALK
The final event for 2018 will be a presentation and talk by Richard Holladay on the 300-year history of “Garton and King”, Exeter’s oldest business. Admission £6.
All talks and quiz evenings will take place in the Boniface Centre.
