THE first St Boniface Concert Society concert of the season will take place on Sunday, May 15 from 3pm to 5pm, at Crediton Parish Church.

The Society is delighted to present an afternoon of music with the outstanding guitarist-composer David Cottam.

David, who studied at the Guildhall School of Music, and made his solo debut at the Wigmore Hall in London, now lives locally in mid-Devon, where he is much in demand as a teacher and performer.

David’s programme will include some of his own captivating compositions as well as works by Fernando Sor, Isaac Albeniz, Federico Torroba and Augustin Mangore.

Teas will be served, and there will be a small exhibition of instruments made by our local Crediton luthier, Shaun Newman, who has made several beautiful guitars for David.

Tickets will be available at the door, but advance purchase is recommended: from A E Lee, Outfitter, Crediton High Street, on-line from: ticketsource.co.uk (search for Crediton), or by email from: [email protected] .

The St Boniface Concert Society is a local charity dedicated to bringing top-flight musicians to perform in Crediton at affordable prices. All are welcome.

The second concert, to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, on Thursday, June 2, will run tom 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

It will feature the exciting young trumpet quartet, Bella Tromba.
