ON the last Sunday of August, Sunday, August 30, from 3pm, there will be an opportunity to hear some of the finest musicians in Devon and to support the next generation, when the Haldon Quintet present a concert in Holy Cross Church, Crediton.

Lindsay Braga, Andrew Gillett, Rebecca Allnatt, and Michael Allnatt (double bass) will be known by some as they perform together as the Haldon Quartet.

With their diverse musical backgrounds and interests, as a quartet they always create a vibrant and sympathetic performance, conveying the heart of the music, and inspiring the audience.

For this concert they are joined by Anton Piggott on the piano. This is the second Summer that Anton has performed with the quartet.

He began playing the piano at the age of 3 in his home town of Totnes, and has just finished his studies at Wells Cathedral School.

From this Autumn he will embark on a dual award course at The University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music where he has won a scholarship.

This will be a good chance to see an emerging and talented musician.

The programme will include Mozart Duo for Violin and Viola in G, Judith Weir: The Bagpipers String Trio and Schubert “Trout” Quintet.

At the same time it will be an opportunity to support Crediton Church Music Endowment Fund, as this concert is a joint venture between the quintet and the trustees.

The programme will comprise Mozart’s Divertimento for String Trio and Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet.

Refreshments will be served after the concert in the Boniface Centre, they are included in the price of the ticket.

Tickets are priced at £20 or £10 for students. It is free for Under 18’s.
