THE Bookery is thrilled to support Crediton Town Council’s late-night shopping evening with a joyful celebration of local authors, festive cheer, and perfect Christmas gifts.
Join us on Friday, December 5 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm for a magical evening with three brilliant Devon-based writers: Tom Cox, Claire Barker, and Malcolm Day.
Each will be signing copies of their books and chatting with readers in the warm glow of our community bookshop.
Tom Cox, known for his witty and heartfelt storytelling, will be signing his newly released novel Everything Will Swallow You Up — a moving tale of friendship, folklore and the quiet magic of everyday life. We’ll also have copies of his other much-loved titles including 1983, Villager, and Notebook.
Claire Barker, beloved children’s author and illustrator, brings the Wild Wood to Crediton with Hettie Nettle’s Handbook for Hedgewitches, alongside her other enchanting titles such as Knitbone Pepper, the lovable ghost dog haunting Starcross Hall, and Picklewitch and Jack, a mischievous tree-dwelling whirlwind with a taste for cake and chaos.
Malcolm Day will be signing his historical fiction debut Two Inches of Ivory, a vivid imagining of Jane Austen’s life and family.
To mark Jane Austen’s 250th birthday on December 16, The Bookery will also feature a special display of Austen titles—ideal for fans and gift-givers alike.
Crediton High Street will be abuzz with activity, with food trucks, live music and street entertainment creating a festive atmosphere for all ages.
Celebrate the season with stories, sparkle and community spirit. Come meet the authors, find inspiration, and discover the perfect bookish gift.
Tickets are free but booking is required. Reserve your place at The Bookery or via our website: thebookery.org.uk.
