THERE is no doubt! Everyone who saw the recent CODS presentation of “The Sound of Music”, will know just how fortunate the town is to have such a talented number of actors in the area’s local community.

CODS presented the collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, “The Sound of Music”, a Queen Elizabeth’s School Barnfield campus from Monday, April 18 to Saturday, April 23.

It has become a play beloved around the world and certainly by audiences in Crediton.

Tickets sold out for all of the shows before the actors took to the stage on the opening night, such is the recognition that CODS continues to present tip-top productions.

Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, the play captures a personal tale of growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II.

“The Sound of Music” tells the tale of young postulant Maria Rainer, whose free spirit has trouble fitting into the rules and regulations of Nonnberg Abbey.

Commissioned by the Mother Abbess to serve as the governess for seven motherless children, Maria transforms the Von Trapp family home from a place of dour rules and regulations to one filled with joy, with laughter, and with music.

Many of the well-known songs were included and audiences could not help but sing along.

The characters of Elsa and Max were given much greater importance and shared two excellent trios with the Captain.

For many the main ingredient of the show was the performance of the children and CODS was lucky to cast two groups who performed the seven shows.

Team Schnitzel appeared on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and for the Saturday matinee with Team Strudel appearing on the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening.

All the actors displayed a high talent and the whole show was beautifully presented.

Congratulations CODS, it really was so well presented and it was wonderful to watch.
