A LOCAL fitness instructor was voted National Instructor of the Year before Christmas out of 700 other instructors in the country - but to those who attend her classes in the Crediton area she is one in a million.

Elaine Coldman runs FitSteps dance based fitness classes, featuring favourite ballroom and Latin dances, in Crediton, Bow, Winkleigh and High Bickington.

At the National FitSteps awards she was voted Regional Winner and then surprised and delighted when announced as National Instructor of the Year.

Class member Jane White said: “I can speak for everyone in saying how well deserved this award is. She is one special person who makes such a difference to our lives. She creates fun and camaraderie, is kind and encouraging."
