The report marks an important milestone in a school improvement journey led by Head of School Jessica Wright, supported by dedicated staff, families, governors, the Diocese of Exeter and Chulmleigh Academy Trust.

“Our children inspire us every day with their kindness, enthusiasm and determination, and seeing them grow in confidence, enjoy coming to school and achieve their potential is what matters most.
“This report is a wonderful recognition of the dedication of our staff, the support of our families and directors, and the partnership we have with Chulmleigh Academy Trust and the Diocese of Exeter. We are proud of what we have achieved together and excited to continue building on this success."
Since 2022, the school has undergone substantial transformation, driven by high expectations, a clear vision and a commitment to ensuring every child succeeds. Inspectors praised the school's positive culture, strong relationships, effective safeguarding, inclusive ethos and engaging curriculum, recognising a school where pupils enjoy learning and achieve well.

Ali Pook, Head of Primary Education for Chulmleigh Academy Trust, said: "This report reflects the commitment, ambition and leadership shown by Jessica Wright and the entire school team.
“Over the last four years, the school has transformed through high expectations, strong relationships and a relentless focus on securing the best outcomes for children. Its development as a Church of England school has further strengthened its sense of purpose, community and belonging."
The success of the school has been built on the dedication of its staff, whose commitment to continuous improvement has strengthened standards, improved attendance to well above national averages, expanded provision to include babies from nine months old and enriched opportunities for children both within and beyond the classroom.
The report also celebrates the strong partnership between the school and its families. Parents and carers have played a vital role in the school's improvement journey, working alongside leaders and staff to create a culture where children feel supported, confident and inspired to learn.
Throughout this period, Chulmleigh Academy Trust has provided strategic leadership, professional development, curriculum expertise, safeguarding support and constructive challenge. The Trust's collaborative approach has helped secure sustainable improvements while building capacity for the future.
Neil Payne, CEO of Chulmleigh Academy Trust, said: "This success demonstrates what can be achieved when school leaders, staff, governors, families, church partners and the Trust work together around a shared vision for children. We are incredibly proud of the progress that has been made and, above all, delighted for the children whose enthusiasm, kindness and achievements are reflected throughout this report."
