CHILDREN and staff at Hayward’s Primary School in Crediton raised £774.65 for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day with a range of incentives organised by Year 4 teacher Scott Baker and the School Council.
Red noses were sold at the school in the run up to Red Nose Day, it was a non-uniform day and there was an opportunity to "soak the teacher".
Some members of staff agreed to have sponges thrown at them and each teacher set a target for their class. When that target was reached, each child in that class got one sponge to throw at the teacher.
The money raised at Hayward’s Primary School will go towards helping more than 2,000 Comic Relief projects, which are funded throughout the UK, addressing a range of issues from homelessness and mental health to dementia and vulnerable young people.
The money raised by Red Nose Day in 2016 helped 11.7 million people across Africa, tackling issues such as immunisation, malaria, education and maternal health.
