THE Bookery in Crediton has drawn together two collections of 10 recently published books for primary and secondary aged pupils to read for pleasure.
On Thursday, October 18, local teachers attended an event at The Bookery where they had the chance to look at the books and to learn about the new package provided for schools as part of The Bookery’s ongoing Schools’ Programme.
The idea behind the collections is to offer teachers and parents a selection of books published in 2020/21 that will encourage younger readers to read for pleasure.
The books have engaging plots, strong characters and interesting themes, but they aren’t too difficult to read and have dyslexia friendly features.
The package for schools is heavily discounted and as well as the books, schools receive detailed information about each book which includes a long review, character lists and links to publisher websites for downloadable activities and resources.
If you, as a school or parent, would like more information about the new collections, please contact The Bookery at: [email protected] .
School staff or parents are very welcome to visit The Bookery, see the collections and find out more. Information is also available on the website: www.thebookery.org.uk .
