WOULD you like to help make a difference to a thriving school in our community?

Hayward's Primary School in Crediton is looking for people to join its engaged and dynamic governing body, as a governor or associate governor.

Nicola Frost, the Chair of Governors at Hayward's School explained: “We welcome people from all backgrounds and are currently especially keen to hear from people aged under 35, and/or those with English as an additional language.

“Governors work at a strategic level to ensure the school manages its resources effectively and is well-run, in the interests of all its pupils.

“You don't need to be a parent, or have any experience of working in education. Full training and guidance is available.

“Being a governor is a substantial commitment, involving at least 12 meetings per year, along with significant reading and preparation time, but it is extremely interesting and rewarding.

“Associate governors do not have voting rights and may attend meetings more flexibly, but can be recruited by the governing body to provide it with specific skills or experience.”
