TO; The Silent Majority. Crediton Town Council Election Thursday, December 1.

INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE?

I was astonished to receive Election Candidate, Tim Matthews “Dear Voter”, promotional letter a few days ago promoting his “Independent Voice on Crediton Town Council” yet to see him delivering these, in the company of, a delivery/canvassing crew, comprised of UKIP members.

This kind of hidden agenda, double standard behaviour, a stark reminder of vociferous minority gaining power by stealth and the politics of fear in Germany in 1933, has become a disturbing feature in recent major events in our country, and I very much hope the Great British silent majority, will see this for what it is and come out and use their vote to stop it.

It was also laughable frankly, certainly ironic, in conjunction with his recent photo in the Courier, proudly wearing his UKIP t-shirt, and while he extols the virtues of, democracy, credibility and accountability, to see Tim Matthews, apparent stand against, “so called”, friends and families policy on the Town Council, without mention of course, that if he is elected, he will then be one of two UKIP Councillors.

The idea in his suggestion, that he is keen to rework the town By-Pass, and all the other issues he mentions, is his original thought, is an insult to the hundreds of people living in Blagdon, near Jockey Hill or “Upper Deck2," who are only too aware every day, of how Crediton’s needs and road safety, has been neglected by Devon County Council, but has very little to do with this election.

Cllr Bob Wright, in contrast has a well earned track record, of being available to get the needs of his community heard, open and hardworking for the town, ready to challenge authority when needed, is not hiding his Liberal Democrat, community driven views, behind standing as Independent, and also, when MP’s were losing their seats at the last election, considerably improved his majority, in common with many Lib Dem Councillors across the land, who put the needs of their residents before their own politics.

Against, what we know from history, that for bad things to happen, only requires good people to do nothing, I hope and trust, that Lawrence Ward voters will show a really good turnout on election day, so we see a fair and proper majority decision and outcome for the future of all.
