A FIVE-year-old Crediton boy, Ryan Sherwood, with his rescue dog, Cassie, completed a double at a recent dog show.
The pair won Best in Show and Best Child Handler in the Blue Cross dog show held at the Uplowman fete on Saturday, May 15.
The sunny weather tempted lots of families and their dogs to the traditional English summer day out - over 50 dogs entered the show.
Visitors also enjoyed a variety of stalls and refreshments while some indulged their competitive streak with skittles and welly-wanging.
Sally Dawes, regional volunteer manager for The Blue Cross in Devon said: "The fete and dog show were a great success and we'd like to thank everyone who came along and helped us raise money for the homeless animals at The Blue Cross centre at Chilton Cross, near Cheriton Fitzpaine.
"Everyone had a great time and we made over £360, which is fantastic."
The Blue Cross is one of Britain's leading pet charity's, providing practical support, information and advice for pet and horse owners. Through its network of animal adoption centres it rehomes thousands of animals each year. Its hospitals provide veterinary care for pets of people who cannot afford private vets' fees.
