ON Wednesday, March 16, Crediton Library will host a Discovery Screens Film Festival.

The Library will be showing two recently released fantastic films.

Organised by Libraries Unlimited, through its Evolve programme, the Discovery Screens Film Festival includes a selection of exceptional hand-picked movies across 11 libraries throughout March to engage audiences at their local library in towns and villages across the county.

The two films showing at Crediton Library include a British and a French-British co-production, with something for everyone.

Crediton Library will be screening a drama, the film “The Father” (12A) at 2pm, for which Anthony Hopkins won an Academy Award for Best Actor.

It is a heartbreaking and intelligent drama about a man who refuses all assistance from his daughter, played by Olivia Colman, as he ages.

As he tries to make sense of his changing circumstances, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of his reality.

The 7pm film will be “Days of the Bagnold Summer” (12), a coming-of-age comedy-drama. Sue works in a library. Daniel eats crisps and listens to Metallica.

This was the summer Daniel was due to spend with his father and his father’s new wife in Florida. But when they cancel his trip at the last minute, Sue and Daniel suddenly face the prospect of six long weeks together.
