THE Devon Association of Ringers has announced with great sadness the news of the passing of Mr Brian Drake, former Chairman (1974 to 2006) and President (2014 to 2015) of the Association and former Tower Captain at North Tawton.

The Association said: “A dedicated ringer for over 70 years, Brian was one of the great icons of our community and chaired the Devon Association of Ringers committee for 32 years.

“In 2015 Brian's Presidential year coincided with his diamond wedding anniversary and he gave an insightful interview with Colin Adams to be published in Devon Calls.

“We send our condolences to Brian's family and friends, and the ringers of North Tawton who will miss him very much.”
