The Mayor of Crediton had the pleasure of announcing that Crediton had been awarded a Silver Award in the South West in Bloom 2011 competition.

The entry into the competition was submitted by the Floral Crediton committee, a working group of Crediton Town Council.

The Mayor thanked the people of the town who had shown real "community spirit" and made the award possible, whether just be weeding or in other ways.

He thanked the committee chair, Cllr Anne Hughes and Sandra O'Connor, vice-chair, Crediton Chamber of Commerce, for the hard work they had put in, the Army Cadets and Scouts who weeded and tidied, plus Jackson's staff who helped tidy and Tesco for tidying and making a financial contribution.
