SON Yambu, a Cuban five piece salsa band, whose debut album got five stars in The Standard, will give a performance at Cheriton Fitzpaine Parish Hall on Friday, November 18, thanks to the county’s rural touring scheme, Villages in Action.

We’re geared for a real fiesta,” says Rebecca Smith of Cheriton Fitzpaine. “I’m particularly enjoying tippling the rum as we plan our Cuban cocktails. A hard job but someone’s got to do it.

“Son Yambu are also doing a salsa dance workshop in our hall so it will be tropical toasty before the show even starts. What Mid Devon lacks by way of crickets, we’ll make up for with maracas!”

Son Yambu have played some stellar events this side of the Atlantic, including Glastonbury, the Cork Jazz Festival and the Rainforest World Music Festival in Borneo, so it is a real coup for Villages in Action, to get them on their autumn programme.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available by calling 01363 866279.
