CREDITON Town Council is pleased to say that the St Boniface Statue in Newcombes Meadow has now been restored to its former glory following an attack by a vandal or vandals late on Friday, May 15 or early on May 16.

The council said that the work to clean the statue had taken some time due to the specialist clean that was required, adding that the council was really pleased with the end result.

The statue was attacked with graffiti of a religious nature.

The specialist cleaning took a full day to complete and it is estimated will cost a four-figure sum.

Crediton Police is investigating the damage caused to the statue and would welcome any information.
