FOUR high-attaining Queen Elizabeth’s School Year 9 students spent a stimulating day at the University of Exeter on Monday, January 15.

This was a day organised by the Further Maths Association with Plymouth University. The sessions were held in a state-of-the-art “exploration lab” and were led by Dr Ted Graham, from the maths department at Plymouth University.

Activities included making estimations with very little information, a fiendishly complex algebra problem on dividing up a pizza and a mathematical card trick.

All the students and the accompanying teacher had a great time.
